Bean – Fava Monica (Windsor type)
$3.99
The long, straight pods containing about 6 seeds of Windsor fava bean are ready to harvest about 80 days after sowing or when they are plump. After hulling, remove the pale green membrane covering the seeds after a quick boil in salted water. Although tedious, this technique improves the flavour of the beans by removing the tough, bitter taste.

- time for germination: 7 to 14 days
When to sow:
- direct sowing when the soil can be worked in spring, about 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost in your area
Sowing technique: in line
- draw a line in the ground (in a pot or in the ground), then sow the seeds in it
Distance in the garden:
- between plants: 15 cm
- between rows: 60 cm
Height of the plants: 60-90 cm
Soil: rich and well drained
Exposure: full sun
Days to harvest (from sowing): 75-85 days
Specificities:
- Curb grass can be sown early in the spring for harvest in early July or in the summer for harvest in September. It does not like hot weather, so we try to grow it when the risk of heat waves is low.
- The addition of a pea/bean/soybean inoculant can increase productivity at planting.
- If the plants are sown tightly, they will support each other, if they are sown less densely, stakes will be useful to keep the plants straight.
