What is the germination rate of your seeds?
Germination tests are conducted regularly to ensure that the seeds sold have a high germination rate. If the seeds are stored properly, planted within the next 12 months and the germination method is appropriate, the seeds will generally have a germination rate typically between 80-95% and more. (There are some exceptions, as some varieties of seeds have a lower standard rate of germination). If, on the contrary, they are poorly stored, per example in a humid environment, are planted in several years, and the germination method is not adequate (soil, water…), the germination rate will be lower. Seeds may not even germinate at all in the worst case scenario!
Read the growing instructions for the seeds you buy, because the germination method and the time required for a seed to germinate differ greatly from one variety to another.
