Onion – Bianca di Maggio Cipollini

A variety of Italian origin, the cipollini (which means small onion in Italian) Bianca Di Maggio produces bulbs measuring between 5 and 7.5 cm in diameter and 2.5-4 cm thick at maturity. Their skin is white and their flavor is sweet. It can be harvested early while its leaves are still green or wait until they have collapsed and dry it to keep it for a few months.

Growing tips
Conditions of germination:
- depth of sowing: 1 cm
- optimal temperature for germination: 18 to 29ºC
- time for germination: 5 to 12 days
When to sow:
- indoor sowing 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost date in your area
Sowing technique: in pocket
Inside the same hole, sow 3 to 5 seeds spaced 1 to 2 cm apart; when the seeds have germinated and the seedlings have reached a height of 5 cm, keep all the seedlings if space is available or keep only the most beautiful ones.

Transplanting outdoors (for seedlings started indoors):
- Transplant 2-4 weeks before the last frost in your area.
