Developed by the Manitoba Agricultural College just over 100 years ago, Manitoba Brown soybeans can be eaten both fresh (edamame) while the pod is still green, and dry and brown when mature. A productive variety that doesn’t require support (45 to 60 cm tall), adapted to the Canadian climate.

Growing tips
Germination conditions:
- sowing depth: 2.5 cm
- optimum germination temperature: 18 to 29ºC
- germination time: 5 to 12 days
When to sow:
- direct sowing after any risk of frost, when the soil is warm.
Sowing technique: in rows
- draw a line in the soil (in a pot or in the ground), then sow the seeds in it.
Distance in the garden:
- between plants: 20-30 cm
- between rows: 60 cm
Plant height: 45-60 cm (does not require staking)
Soil: rich, well-drained
Exposure: full sun
Days to harvest: 70 days (cool) and 90 days (dry)
